Gordon and Alfred
Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie, left) and Alfred (Sean Pertwee, right) try to save Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) in "Gotham" episode 11, "Worse Than a Crime." Fox/Nicole Rivelli

Theo Galavan (James Frain) may have gotten away with his crimes once, but Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is going to make sure it doesn't happen a second time on Fox's “Gotham" Season 2. Thugs and cops unite to stop Theo in the fall finale, titled “Worse Than a Crime,” but a more evil villain could be lurking.

In episode 11, Theo takes Bruce (David Mazouz) to his apartment, where he reveals that his real last name is not Galavan but Dumas. Theo is looking to get revenge on the Wayne family and take over the city, which he believes will happen if Bruce, the last son of the Wayne family, is killed.

Gordon finds himself in Edward Nygma’s (Cory Michael Smith) apartment and sees Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) there, too. When Gordon goes to leave, Penguin stops him and says they have a mutual desire to take down Theo. He says now is the perfect time for them to team up to do so.

Alfred (Sean Pertwee) arrives at the garbage dump after being wounded by Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas) and falling into a truck in episode 10. Tabitha is searching for Alfred in the dump, but he’s able to hide from her. Alfred escapes and tries to steal a car to get back to the city, but police officers see the whole thing and they stun Alfred and arrest him.

At Theo’s apartment, Silver (Natalie Alyn Lind) tries to get out of seeing Bruce killed by saying she has a cold. Theo gives her a test to make Bruce fall in love with her again; he she fails, Theo will throw her out of the Dumas family. When Silver goes to see Bruce in his cell, he wants nothing to do with her, but she’s able to make him think otherwise and she stays with him. Bruce and Silver bond in the cell and Silver appears to have a change of heart. She breaks him out, but they’re recaptured almost immediately and both are thrown back into the cell.

Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) goes to the Gotham City Police Department to report Alfred and Bruce missing. He’s convinced Theo has Bruce but doesn’t have any hard evidence. Capt. Barnes (Michael Chiklis) discovers they actually have Alfred locked up. He lets Alfred out of jail and he tells them about the struggle with Theo’s sister. Barnes doesn’t believe they have enough on Theo for a warrant, but he drops the charges against Alfred. Alfred and Bullock (Donal Logue) agree to go after Theo together, but they have to find Gordon first. They figure out where Gordon is when Nygma eavesdrops on their conversation and reveals the detective's location. Bullock, Alfred and Lucius drive to Gordon to tell him Theo has Bruce and they all team up to try to save the "son of Gotham."

Bruce and Theo
Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz, left) faces death when Theo Galavan (James Frain, right) kidnaps him and plans to sacrifice him to avenge his family on "Gotham" episode 11. Fox/Nicole Rivelli

While sitting in the cell, Bruce tells Silver he doesn’t understand why she's playing him. She says it’s because of her fear of getting kicked out of the family and if he doesn’t kiss her goodbye before he dies she gets thrown out. When the time comes for Bruce to be taken to the Order of St. Dumas, he kisses Silver.

Selina (Camren Bicondova) helps Gordon, Alfred, Penguin and their men get into the building when she takes out a guard. Meanwhile, Bruce is tied to a pole as the Order chants around him. Father Creel (Ron Rifkin) goes to stab Bruce, but Silver yells out for him to stop, and when he pauses, Gordon and his men kick the door down. In an epic gun battle, Bullock shoots Father Creel and they’re able to save Bruce. However, Theo is gone. In his apartment, he and Tabitha grab parachutes to escape the building. He plans to leave Silver behind and goes to hurt her, when Tabitha hits him hard in the back of the head, knocking him down.

Tabitha and Silver escape, while Gordon finds Theo and arrests him. Gordon is considering just shooting Theo because the courts failed to put him away the first time. He holds a gun up to Theo’s head when Barnes walks in. Barnes tries to do the lawful thing by arresting Theo, while also arresting Gordon until they can clear his name. Penguin comes in and smashes a pot over Barnes' head, knocking him out. He tells Gordon the only option is to kill Theo because he has the courts in his pocket and will walk again.

Gordon and Penguin take Theo down to the water, where Penguin beats him with a baseball bat. Gordon stops Penguin before he kills him. Shockingly, Gordon then pulls out his gun and appears to shoot Theo dead. Theo’s body is later taken to the Indian Hill facility, where it is revealed that new villain Professor Strange (B.D. Wong) has some “high hopes” for him.

Other Major Moments From Episode 11:

  • Lee (Morena Baccarin) is tired of seeing Gordon get into dangerous situations and reveals to him that she is pregnant when she finds him with Penguin’s men. Lee leaves town while Gordon goes to save Bruce and stop Theo. After he takes care of Theo, Gordon meets up with Lee. He asks her to marry him, but the scene ends before she answers.

  • Aside from Professor Strange, another new villain, Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow), will be terrorizing Gotham City. The famous Batman villain was shown freezing a man with a gun in the final seconds of the fall finale.

  • Lucius has fixed the hard drive on Bruce’s father’s computer, so more answers about Thomas Wayne could be revealed in the second half of the season.
