Riverdale Halloween

Halloween is the perfect time to emulate your favorite pop culture couples. If you and your significant other are dressing up this year, try imitating a famous couple from a popular TV show. Below are some DIY ways to dress up as duos from “Game of Thrones,” “Riverdale” and more.

Betty and Jughead from “Riverdale” This couple is actually a pretty easy to imitate. Jughead needs jeans, a t-shirt and a denim jacket (preferably with a shearling collar). The specific colors aren’t super important, but keep the color palette dark. The essential piece here is the beanie. A gray knit cap should be easy to find, but you’ll likely have to get out the scissors to perfectly mimic the crown-like hem.

Betty, meanwhile, needs a blonde ponytail. Her clothing changes, but she uses a much brighter color palette. Pinks, yellows, light blues and purples fill her closet. Try a pink cardigan and jeans or a modest skirt.

Alex and Maggie from “Supergirl” These butt kicking babes don’t require capes. Alex can wear her DEO tactical gear. Try black clothing with a gun in a thigh holster. Try making a DEO ID to carry too. Maggie, meanwhile, tends to look pretty casual in fitted jeans and a black leather jacket. She’ll have her police badge and a gun attached to her belt. If you want to make her outfit a little more obvious, she occaisonally wears a blue police jacket at crime scenes.

Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen from “Game of Thrones” The newest “Game of Thrones” couple is likely to be seen at a few Halloween gatherings this year. For Jon Snow, you’ll need a dark mane of hair to start off. He’s usually wearing armor (try checking out knight’s costumes) underneath a long dark cloak with a fur collar.

Those dressing up as Dany have a few options. A long, platinum blonde wig is a must, but the outfit could go a few different ways. In the beginning of the series, the Mother of Dragons was known for wearing summery blue dresses. Winter has led to her rocking some more layers. If you’re looking to recreate her Dragonstone look, it’s a little more complicated. A black dress with structured shoulders would probably convey the same idea. Head to the craft store to get a silver chain to drape the torso across like a sash and some fabric to hang down the back almost like a cape (as seen below, the show uses a purple color, but red would make more sense since it’s a Targaryen color).

Game of Thrones Halloween costumes
Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) costumes will likely be big with “Game of Thrones” fans. HBO

Daredevil and Elektra from “The Defenders” If you’re not going out to buy a Daredevil costume, you should probably stick to Matt Murdock’s incognito look. A grey suit with a black tie and red glasses are perfect. Remember your walking stick. Elektra, meanwhile, has an easier superhero look, especially if you focus on her costume from “Daredevil” Season 2. Black boots, pants and a tank top are must-haves. Dark hair should be pulled back into a ponytail and a red kerchief covers the lower half of her face. Of course, the look won’t be complete without sai swords.

Magnus and Alec from “Shadowhunters” Alec is low key, so he has the easier costume. Any black outfit will do, but it’s the tattoos that really make him identifiable. While there are some sellers on Etsy and ebay that have temporary tattoos available for purchase, there are also many YouTube tutorials that can teach you how to make the runes. The most important one is the large deflecting rune that Alec has on his neck.

Magnus is a little more work. The warlock likes jewelry, so an ear cuff, several necklaces and maybe a ring or two would work. Magnus also likes his makeup. In addition to black nails, he typically is rocking some black eyeliner at the very least, if not some eyeshadow too. His clothing is nicer than Alec’s. Stick to dark colors but a silk shirt or detailed blazer would be perfect.

Rainbow and Dre from “Black-ish” This costume is super easy. Rainbow is a nurse, so she just needs a set of light blue scrubs and maybe a baby doll if you want to reference recent storylines. If your boyfriend is dragging his feet to this Halloween party, Dre is the perfect costume. He essentially just wears jeans and sweaters all the time.
