Harvey Weinstein's rumored girlfriend and actress Alexandra Vino believes that the former media mogul and convicted sex offender was nothing but a “scapegoat” for the Me Too movement.

Speaking in an interview with The New York Post, Vino opened up about the Weinstein case and insisted that people “don’t really hate Harvey,” but she admitted that they have completely “destroyed” his life. Vino further stated that the punishment Weinstein received was harsh and he did not deserve 23 years in prison for what he did.

“Everyone seems to [explicit] hate Harvey but they don’t realize they don’t really hate Harvey. They are being told how to feel. He is a scapegoat for this entire [#MeToo] movement and they’ve destroyed his life. It’s been like a human sacrifice. People get 23 years in prison for murdering people, not for what he did,” NY Post quoted Vino, as saying.

During the interview, the “Mile 22” star also defended the former producer and noted that “gorgeous women” threw themselves at Weinstein during the Oscar parties to get work.

“I know what Oscar parties are like, I know what goes on. I have seen the gorgeous women throwing themselves at Harvey and other powerful men all day long. These girls in LA and New York are not naïve. You don’t hit on a guy [like Weinstein] with a track record for hitting on women. What, and then you’re all, ‘Oh I can’t believe he asked me for a back massage?’ Come on,” Vino told the publication.

The media outlet also claimed that Vino and Weinstein have been romantically involved in the past. However, the actress made it clear that they are just good friends.

“I’d like to keep my private life private,” Vino told The Post.

Her comments come a couple of days after Weinstein was charged with six new counts of sexual assault involving two women. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office revealed that Weinstein raped a woman at a Beverly Hills hotel between Sept. 1, 2004 and Sept. 30, 2005, Page Six reported.

The court documents also showed that he allegedly sexually assaulted another woman twice in Beverly Hills. The Miramax founder now faces 11 sexual assault charges in Los Angeles County involving five women.
