Lady Gaga, who plays Italian socialite Patrizia Reggiani in the highly anticipated movie "House of Gucci," feels everyone is focusing way too much on her accent.

"If I'm being honest, I do feel that it's been sensationalized that I worked on my accent for so long, and that I was in character for so long," she told New York Times on Thursday.

The 35-year-old singer-turned-actress explained that it was easier for her to stay in the character for a long time than getting in and out of character again and again.

"I think it would have done more of a number on me had I not practiced it so much," she told the outlet. "It would have been harder for me to go in and out of character on set than to stay in it."

Gaga earlier told Associated Press that it took her months to get the perfect accent. She said this when she attended the "House of Gucci" premiere Tuesday at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London.

She admitted she has no clue if Reggiani's character will "leave" her fully.

The official Twitter handle of "House of Gucci" shared the highlights of the event Wednesday.

This was not the first time Gaga spoke about her accent in the movie. She told British Vogue Magazine earlier this month that she started working on the character three years ago.

"I will be fully honest and transparent: I lived as [Reggiani] for a year and a half. I spoke with an accent for nine months of that. Off-camera, I never broke. I stayed with her," she told the outlet.

In order to connect with the character, Gaga embraced photography, though she had "no evidence that Patrizia was a photographer."

"House of Gucci" is based on the true story of Reggiani, who was convicted of ordering her ex-husband's assassination. It also stars Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, Camille Cottin, Jeremy Irons, Jeremy Iron, Reeve Carney and Mehdi Nebbou.

The movie is directed by Ridley Scott and it is slated to release on Nov. 24 in theaters.
