After testing negative earlier this week, a spokesman confirmed Thursday that Nancy Pelosi has COVID-19.

The House of Representatives Speaker is 82 years old and is one of many White House officials who has recently tested positive for the virus.

Pelosi's deputy chief of staff Drew Hammill said on Twitter that she is asymptomatic at the moment and “is fully vaccinated and boosted.” In her visit to the White House on Tuesday, the Democrat was seen making contact with former President Barack Obama, and standing near President Joe Biden, both of whom are vaccinated.

“The Speaker will quarantine consistent with CDC guidance, and encourages everyone to get vaccinated, boosted and test regularly,” Hammill added in his tweet.

Around 8 to 23 million Americans are estimated to be suffering from symptoms following COVID recovery. The Biden administration announced Tuesday that it is taking further action in understanding the condition.

The National Institutes of Health announced in February that it will initiate an approach to study Long COVID and that over $1 billion in funding has been secured to support the research over the next four years.
