She went on to win the Mirrorball Trophy at the end of Season 28 of “Dancing With the Stars,” but Hannah Brown was keeping busy at the beginning of her time on the ABC show, and certain events could explain why she took a dip in her scores during the middle of the competition.

The premiere of “The Bachelor” saw Brown, who starred as the most recent “Bachelorette” in 2019 and saw her engagement to Jed Wyatt fizzle out before the season ended after his true intentions were revealed, show up on Peter Weber’s first night of welcoming the female contestants. As it turns out, her appearance on the first night is not the only one throughout the season, as she will also be present during a group date in the third episode. However, it has been reported that her time on the show was not long, and she didn’t officially join Peter’s season.

Reality Steve reported last year that while promos were making it seem as though Brown showed up and joined the season, she never actually was a part of the cast. In fact, though she was competing on “Dancing With the Stars” at the time, she only showed up while “The Bachelor” was also still filming in Los Angeles, giving her a few hours to tape and still rehearse her routines. Still, her appearance will have an effect over the first episodes of the romantic competition series.

“Hannah showed up and had a talk with Peter, and Peter got emotional about it. Told the women he needed to sort through his feelings and sent them home for that portion of the date,” Reality Steve said at the time. “but there was a night portion to the date, so this was something done for dramatic purposes.”

“So while this is a MAJOR deal right now and everyone’s gonna freak out saying Peter’s still in love with Hannah, I don’t see it that way at all. They’re using Hannah to create a storyline...The first 3 episodes of this season will have a ‘Is Peter over Hannah’ storyline lingering over it,” he added.

While she was easily able to film some episodes of “Bachelor” since she was in L.A. for “DWTS” at the time, how things played out may have had an effect on the eventual Mirrorball Champion’s performances. Us Weekly points out that the premiere episode taped on Sept. 19, three days after Brown earned one of the highest scores of the night on the “DWTS” Season premiere. Episode three likely taped Sept. 24, her 25th birthday and also one day after her second week of performances, where she was on the top of the judges’ leaderboard. However, following that night, her blogs about the shows were somber for a little while afterward—implying that she was going through some kind of emotional turmoil. If she had been making an attempt to get back together with Peter, it may have been where things wound up no longer working out—leading to that mood.

In fact, the timing may have also worked out perfectly for some “Bachelor” related heartache when it came to her scores on the dancing competition. Week 3, which aired after she may have finished filming with Peter, saw her take a downward turn in her scores, one which remained for weeks, with the judges calling her out for seeming closed off during her routines—and that week, in particular, saw Carrie Ann Inaba make a comment that her hip action was more like what would be seen in a cheerleading routine than in a Latin dance.

Of course, regardless of the potentially exhausting schedule of filming both shows and any affect heartache may have had on her dancing, things ended well for Brown—at least on “DWTS.” She went on to win the Mirrorball trophy over her fellow competitors.
