When Prince Harry was a child, his mother, Princess Diana did her best to give him a normal life. Although Harry once vowed to not allow his royal ties to turn him into a celebrity, Meghan Markle managed to change his mind.

During an appearance on Yahoo’s “The Royal Box,” Angela Levin claimed Harry used to shun the thought of becoming a celebrity. However, his relationship with Meghan influenced the royal’s acceptance of the idea.

“Prince Harry said to me, this was before he was engaged to Meghan, that there is a big difference between being a show business celebrity and being a royal. A show business celebrity is someone who is acknowledged for something they’ve done, a talent they’ve had,” she explained.

“A royal has to be steeped in duty and looking to look after things for the Queen. And he said, ‘I will never, ever become a celebrity. There’s a narrow line, but I never want to cross it.’ I think he has.”

Due to Meghan’s career as a Hollywood actress, Levin believes Prince Harry went against his word to make the Duchess of Sussex happy.

“When he got engaged, really, he accepted all that. I think we can all say certain things, and then you marry somebody, you fall in love with them, and you compromise,” the royal biographer said.

“What will be interesting is how it goes forward, whether they do become a world-celebrity couple doing humanitarian work or whether there is more closeness to the Royal Family,” she added.

In the past, Meghan and Prince Harry have been accused of stealing the royal spotlight from Prince William and Kate Middleton. Following their 2018 royal wedding, the public interest in the couple’s relationship has continued to grow.

Following the birth of their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, the couple has only made one joint appearance together. While Prince Harry is expected to continue fulfilling his royal duties, Meghan isn’t expected to return to the spotlight until the fall.
