Prince Philip has played several pranks on his wife, Queen Elizabeth II. Some of them generated a good laugh while others backfired on the Duke of Edinburgh.

During one instance, the dad of four wore the uniform of a royal guard to see if the Queen would realize who he was. A photo of Prince Philip standing outside the palace in full gear has made rounds online.

The photo also shows the Queen walking in front of her husband with a huge smile on her face. By the looks of it, Her Majesty didn’t fail to recognize who the man is underneath the uniform.

“That’s so nice of him to make her smile. She loves that man… Against all they have done it and very dignified,” one royal fan commented on the photo. Another person said that the couple is never too old to play jokes on each other.

But there was also an instance wherein Prince Philip’s attempts at making the Queen laugh backfired. On one occasion, the Duke of Edinburgh hid one of his wife’s Corgis in a desk cupboard. When the Queen arrived and looked for her pet, Prince Philip said that he didn’t know where it was.

However, Prince Philip’s prank backfired because the Corgi made noise upon hearing the monarch’s voice. Immediately after, the Duke let out the dog and it ran towards the Queen.

Unfortunately for the dad of four, the Queen was left unamused by what he did. In fact, the 93-year-old royal told off her husband and urged him to stop showing off to guests. After Her Majesty left the room, Prince Philip hit back with a scathing attack.

“Philip turned to the guest and said, ‘Who does she think she is?’” a source from the Buckingham Palace said.

The Queen adores all of her Corgis, and this could be the main reason why she wasn’t pleased with the prank.
