Following their midterm win, House Republicans have once again set their focus on the family of President Joe Biden.

In particular, Republicans have re-engaged their interest in the business dealings of Hunter Biden, the son of the president.

"In the 118th Congress, this committee will evaluate the status of Joe Biden's relationship with his family's foreign partners and whether he is a president who is compromised or swayed by foreign dollars and influence," said incoming Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky.

Comer delivered the remarks during a news conference, and was joined by the soon-to-be chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio.

"I want to be clear: This is an investigation of Joe Biden, and that's where the committee will focus in this next Congress," added Comer.

Politico reports that on Thursday, House Republicans sent record requests to myriad agencies and released an interim report. It said Joe Biden "misused his public position" to benefit his family financially and "created the potential" that he could be influenced.

Comer has said that his team has spoken with witnesses who say they were involved in schemes involving the Biden family, reviewed Hunter Biden's infamous laptop, and received "previously unknown transactions."

Comer is referring to more than 100 bank activity reports – known as suspicious activity reports – that are supposedly related to the Biden family and says that the Treasury Department has ignored his repeated requests when Republicans were in the minority to hand them over.

Biden and the Democrats circulated a memo that labeled Comer as a "conspiracy theorist, Trump sycophant, [and] proven liar."
