Naught Dog’s “Jak and Daxter” is getting another shot at life on Sony’s up-to-date console. The games will get an HD upgrade this year and will then be released on the PlayStation 4.

Sony Interactive Entertainment America associate producer Bryan Pardilla announced on the PlayStation blog on Monday that “Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy,” “Jak II,” “Jak III” and “Jak X: Combat Racing” are all coming to the PS4 later this year. The PS2 Classics titles will be updated with 1080p resolution and Trophy support prior to their release on the PS Store.

Fans of the games will surely enjoy the upgraded titles that will take them to a nostalgic journey to “Jak and Daxter’s” ancient lands. Players can also expect the enhanced versions of Shareplay, Remote Play and Activity Feeds to be present in the games. However, Sony noted that certain online features will require an active PlayStation Plus membership.

This is the first time that Naughty Dog’s 2005 spinoff “Jak X: Combat Racing” will be once again available on the market since its official release back in October 2005. As the PS2 game heads to the PS4, players will get to enjoy the wild vehicular combat that comes in Adventure and Exhibition modes. Sadly, this game will not support online multi-player, but players can still battle with their friends via splitscreen.

Sony previously re-released the “Jak and Daxter” games under the “Jak and Daxter Collection” package, but it did not include “Jak X: Combat Racing” at the time. Also, the collection was only released for the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita back then.

Engadget reports that all of the reborn “Jak and Daxter” games will not launch with graphical overhauls or any new features, so players should not expect for the upgraded versions to have a makeover like what “Crash Bandicoot” is getting.

Sony is still mum on the official release date of the PS4-bound “Jak and Daxter” games. It has not provided details about pricing either. However, as Polygon pointed out, PS2 Classics titles typically cost $9.99 or $14.99.
