Jane the Virgin
Newlyweds Michael Cordero (Brett Dier) and Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) are navigating the challenges of married life in “Jane the Virgin” Season 3. The CW

Jane Gloriana Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) and her baby daddy Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni) from “Jane the Virgin” are over and have decided to remain good friends. But after Rodriguez posted a photo of Jane and her new husband, Michael Cordero (Brett Dier), on her social media page, Team Rafael fans sprung into action and bombarded her comments section.

“Sadly they fight all the time,” a Team Rafael fan observed about Jane and Michael. “Sorry, but I feel like they are just like a friend or brother and sister lately, less [romantic] and chemistry.”

“It’s so sad,” another fan wrote. “#teamrafael all the way!”

When Season 3 of “Jane the Virgin” opened, Rafael happily announced that he’s over Jane. As a result, their dynamic as co-parents of baby Mateo changed significantly, with Rafael not being afraid to contradict Jane anymore because he no longer had to please her. However, some fans are skeptical about Rafael’s announcement. How could he get over Jane that quickly?

When asked about his thoughts on Jane and Rafael's romantic future, Baldoni told Fuse that the two are over each other for good. “I do, actually,” Baldoni said, when asked if he thinks his character has truly moved on. "I know a lot of the fans don't, but I do think so. Rafael is a pretty strong guy. I don't know a lot of TV characters who have had to deal with as much as Rafael has to deal with in the past few years.”

Meanwhile, executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman said Rafael has other things aside from romance to think about. He recently learned that he’s not really a Solano and now has to worry about his father’s will saying that all his money will only go to his biological children.

“He has a great storyline that I'm really excited about,” Urman told The Hollywood Reporter. “Beyond that, there is this new relationship that he has to deal with.” At first, fans thought Urman was referring to Catalina (Sofia Pernas), but she might be teasing about Raf’s biological parents.

“Jane the Virgin” Season 3 airs every Monday at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
