“Jane the Virgin” stars Gina Rodriguez and Justin Baldoni are proud to be feminists, and they do not shy away from making their declaration on social media.

The two stars wore matching “Feminist” shirts on the set of “Jane the Virgin” and took a selfie to make a statement.

In the show, the two play lovers-turned-best-friends Jane Gloriana Villanueva and Rafael Solano. But in real life, the two share quite the close friendship as well.

Many actually hoped that Jane and Rafael would get back together after Michael Cordero (Brett Dier) passed away this Season 3, but Baldoni told Entertainment Tonight that fans have to be a bit more patient. Regardless if they end up together or not, he said it’s enough that they forged a tight bond.

“They’ve been through crazy, crazy things but they’ve been able to come out the other side and remain friends. What’s great about that, for all the Jane and Rafael shippers, is that if there were anything to happen in the future, is that there’s a foundation for that, whereas before, there wasn’t,” he said.

Baldoni said Jane and Michael’s friendship is what made their relationship beautiful, and now Jane and Rafael have that as well. Since he is no longer pining after her, Rafael can now be honest with Jane, especially with regards to co-parenting baby Mateo. “That’s what’s beautiful about deep friendships is the ability to be honest with each other without being worried what the other person thinks,” he explained.

But for now, the two are going to pursue different relationships. It seems like Rafael has fallen back in love with his ex-wife Petra, while Jane is eager to dip her toes into the dating field.

“Jane the Virgin” Season 3 will return on Monday, April 24 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
