  • Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow revisited their roles in the 1994 hit sitcom "Friends"
  • Both actresses harked back to their time on set and how they would often "break character"
  • Aniston also revealed her favorite thing about rewatching the sitcom

Jennifer Aniston has revisited her role in one of the most popular shows ever in modern TV history, “Friends.”

Along with co-star Lisa Kudrow, the 51-year-old actress took a stroll down memory lane and reminisced their days on the set of the sitcom that has amassed a massive following since it first debuted in 1994.

Both actresses, who sat down for an hour-long video chat for Variety’s “Actors on Actors,” asked each other a series of questions involving the sitcom.

Kudrow, 56, who played the role of Phoebe Buffay, asked Aniston, who played Rachel Green, if she watched any episode of “Friends” during the coronavirus lockdown.

“I love it. I love stumbling on a ‘Friends’ episode,” Aniston confessed during the video session. “This one time I was with Courteney [Cox], and we were trying to find something to reference, an old ‘Friends’ thing. And then we stumbled on — there’s bloopers online — and we sat there at the computer like two nerds watching these bloopers laughing at ourselves.”

The 56-year-old star could relate to what her fellow “Friends” alum was talking about, also admitting that she has spent “hours” watching the sitcom bloopers.

While recollecting their time on the show, Aniston then revealed her most favorite part when she watches an episode of “Friends.”

“Here’s what I love, is when I watch an episode, I’ll usually remember where we broke during the scene,” the actress told Kudrow.

“You and I would always get into these fits of laughter because you had this wonderful ability to — you were about to hit your punchline, and you would do this adorable thing where you would break,” she continued. “You would say the punchline, and you would always turn to the audience and say, ‘I’m sorry, it’s really funny.’”

Agreeing to Aniston’s revelation, Kudrow admitted that she didn’t want to say her character’s punchline during their taping. This was because she felt that she might “ruin” the line.

Aniston then added that her 56-year-old co-star had the ability to “giggle” and therefore “break” character when she had to say the punchline as Phoebe. Kudrow labeled this as one of their “commitment issues” on the show.

The surprising fact led to Aniston recalling one scene that related well to their “break in character” moments. She referred to Season 7, episode 15 titled “The One With Joey’s New Brain,” recalling the bagpipes scene where Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) was learning how to play the instrument for Monica Geller (Courteney Cox) and Chandler Bing’s (Matthew Perry) wedding.

The actress pointed out how the cast “couldn’t hold it together” when Phoebe started to squeal and imitated the bagpipe sounds.

“The bagpipes — where you started to sing full 100 percent-sounding like the bagpipe — I couldn’t hold it together,” Aniston shared, laughing as she recalled the scene. “No one could hold it together.”

Meanwhile, the "Friends" reunion special has officially been confirmed for a comeback via HBO Max with all the original cast members — Aniston, Perry, Kudrow, Schwimmer, Cox and Matt LeBlanc — returning for the "unscripted" special.
