Well, Sean Connery would be proud...at least the Darrell Hammond version. In the popular "Saturday Night Live" skit "Celebrity Jeopardy," Hammond's Sean Connery constantly tries to humiliate comedian Will Ferrell's Alex Trebek. However, the real Alex Trebek was the butt of the joke Wednesday as Talia Lavin, a contestant on Wednesday's episode of (real) "Jeopardy" baited the host into saying the phrase "Turd Ferguson," a reference to one of the more iconic "Celebrity Jeopardy" sketches.

"Celebrity Jeopardy" was spearheaded by comedian Will Ferrell's impression of "Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek while Ferrell was a "Saturday Night Live" cast member in late 1990s and early 2000s. Every sketch featured Ferrell's Trebek frustrated by the celebrity contestants (played by a rotation of impressionist comedians) either directly trying to undermine the host or simply lacking the intelligence to answer even the simplest questions correctly. The campaign against Trebek was always led by Darrell Hammond's fictionally crude portrayal of "James Bond" actor Sean Connery, but in one of the more famous sketches, Burt Reynold, played by "SNL" castmember Norm MacDonald, gets in on the fun, wearing a giant foam hat and insisting on being called "Turd Ferguson."

Fast forward to actual "Jeopardy" Wednesday where former Huffington Post writer Talia Levin decided to have some fun of her own. During the "Final Jeopardy" segment, Lavin, evidently not sure of the actual answer, instead opted to take the opportunity to prank Trebek. Responding to the clue, "This song from a 1999 animated film about censorship had a word censored from its Oscar performance," Levin shrewdly wrote, "What is the love ballad of Turd Ferguson." Trebek, who is forced to read aloud every contestant's answer, monotonously read the iconic "Turd Ferguson" phrase to cheers and laughs from the studio audience.

Loyal "Saturday Night Live" fans immediately erupted with excitement on Twitter over the unexpected reference.

Lavin herself was overwhelmed by all of the attention, tweeting that she was excited to be trending online.

"Celebrity Jeopardy" was recently brought back for "SNL 40," the 40th anniversary special for "Saturday Night Live." Will Ferrell reprised his role as Trebek and Norm MacDonald was back in action as Burt Reynolds, sporting the trademark oversized, foam hat.
