Jill Duggar Dillard and Derick Dillard have posted on their blog for the first time since the cancellation of “19 Kids and Counting,” the TLC reality show that Jill has been on for 10 seasons. However, the new parents chose not to address the cancellation. They decided to instead talk about the first days of their mission trip.

The couple revealed that they are working somewhere in Central America, and the locals are very happy to see baby Israel, who who was born in April. “Everywhere we go, people here about and want to see and hold the, ‘big blue-eyed, white baby’ LOL,” they wrote. “Israel is definitely growing and developing fast.”

Jill and Derick’s mission trip is intended to help more people accept the Christian religion. They say they’ve already witnessed people decide to be devoted followers. “It is encouraging to already see some of the ways God is changing the hearts of the people here,” they wrote. “Just 7 days ago, I had the joy of witnessing one elderly woman give lordship of her life to Christ.”

Derick and Jill, who is the second eldest daughter of the Duggar family, announced their intentions to leave on an extended mission trip last month. At the time, the fate of “19 Kids and Counting” was up in the air after Josh Duggar was revealed to have molested several girls as a teenager, including Jill. On Thursday, TLC announced that it would cancel the show, but Jill will still appear on screen. TLC revealed that they are working on a documentary about child abuse that will include Jill and Jessa Duggar.

“The goal is to take what has been a difficult and painful experience, and focus that attention on the really critical issue of child protection and child sexual abuse,” TLC President Marjorie Kaplan told Associated Press. An air date for the documentary has not been set yet.
