Kurt Angle will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by the company’s top star. John Cena will do the honors on Friday, March 31, just two nights before he competes in a match at WrestleMania 33.

Angle will headline the Hall of Fame class of 2017, returning to WWE after spending more than a decade away from the company. The induction will come nearly 15 years after Cena made his WWE debut and faced Angle on “SmackDown” in his first-ever match.

Cena was pinned by Angle on Feb. 27, 2002, but he would go on to be the face of WWE for more than a decade. Angle left WWE in 2006 and joined TNA, becoming one of the top wrestlers in the company’s history.

Still one of the top stars on “SmackDown,” Cena will team up with Nikki Bella to take on The Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania 33. WWE Hall of Fame inductees are usually introduced at WrestleMania, though Angle won’t be in a match.

Neither Angle nor WWE has announced any plans for the Hall of Famer to have another match, but it’s hard to believe that the 48-year-old won’t wrestle in WWE again. Even if he doesn’t perform in the ring in 2017, Angle will likely return to “Monday Night Raw” or “SmackDown” as an on-screen character.

There have been rumors that Angle could become the new general manager of “Monday Night Raw.” After getting into a physical confrontation with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, Mick Foley doesn’t seem long for the job.
