A book written by the teenage mistress of former U.S. president John F Kennedy has revealed new and startling details about their 18-month relationship.

Mimi Alford, a retired church worker, described how the president took her virginity when she was just 19 years old working as an intern at the White House.

In her newly published autobiography, titled Once Upon a Secret: My Affair with President John F. Kennedy and Its Aftermath, she mentioned how Kennedy seduced her in his wife's bedroom after a pool party at the White House.

She has also claimed that the then president made her take drugs and asked her to perform sex acts on his friend while he watched.

The affair reportedly lasted for 18 months and ended only with the death of the president. The now 69-year-old ex-mistress of Kennedy claims that despite all odds, her relationship with the president was quite close and that Kennedy often confided in her.

She even claimed in the book that Kennedy asked her to console him after the death of his baby son Patrick.

There was a stack of condolence letters on the floor next to his chair, and he picked each one up and read it aloud to me... Occasionally, tears rolling down his cheeks, he would write something on one of the letters, probably notes for a reply, details in the previewed parts of the book reveal.

The book also ponders over Kennedy's thoughts on the Cuban missile crisis.

Alford's publisher, Random House, noted that her decision to pen the book came after being exposed in a tabloid frenzy in 2003 when a Kennedy biographer had referred to a 19-year-old... White House intern as one of his affairs, according to a BBC report.
