Surprise! Surprise! The Jonas Brothers are joining forces once again after parting ways six years ago. However, Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas have decided to ditch the word “Brothers” from their band and move forward with just “JONAS” for their moniker.

While many fans are happy and excited to hear new music from the trio, the news has undeniably opened old wounds related to the abrupt and a bit messy breakup between the musician siblings.

When the Jonas Brothers broke up in October 2013, many fans of the beloved boy band were heartbroken and confused as to what could have led to the split. There have been very vague explanations as to why the “Jumanji” actor and his brothers parted ways.

Two years after their split, the celebrity brothers formally decided to open up on what caused them to disband during their joint guesting on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” For Kevin, the split happened because they all thought that it was time to put an end to The Jonas Brothers band.

However, Nick came clean when he said it was him who actually initiated the process of breaking up. It was also during this time when Priyanka Chopra’s husband disclosed that there had been arguments among the three of them when they were not performing in public.

Nick also said that there had been “complications within the group” for a long time before they had the talk. He admitted that it was a “very tough conversation” to have, considering that they were days away from kicking off their tour, which was eventually canceled.

Nevertheless, that’s all in the past now because happy days are here again with Nick, Joe and Kevin preparing to make a comeback as a group act. The Sun reported on Monday that the trio are now planning to not only release new songs, there is also going to be a documentary about their reunion.

“After enjoying solo music success and taking time to work on passion projects, they feel that now is the right time to get back together,” an insider told the entertainment news outlet. “This is going to be one of the biggest music reunions in years.”

Even though nothing official has been announced so far, Nick has been dropping hints on social media about their reunion. For instance, the “Jealous” hitmaker liked several tweets about his band’s future.

Us Weekly also pointed out that the original Instagram page for the Jonas Brothers was reactivated in January 2018 after being inactive for four years. This could have been the very first sign that Nick, Joe and Kevin were planning a comeback as a band.
