Jordana Brewster has commented on Michelle Rodriguez’s potential departure from the “Fast and Furious” franchise.

In a recent interview with E! News, Brewster said that she adores Rodriguez and the franchise so she doesn’t feel like she can speak for her co-star. Nonetheless, Brewster would like Rodriguez to reprise her role as Letty in future installments of the film series. “I just hope she stays in it because I love Letty, and I love Michelle,” said Brewster, who played Mia Toretto in the franchise.

Rumors about Rodriguez’s potential exit from the franchise started to swirl last June when the actress took to Instagram to criticize the film series for not developing its female characters.

“I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one. Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise,” Rodriguez wrote in a post announcing the release of “F8” on digital platforms. “It’s been a good ride & I’m grateful for the opportunity the fans & studio have provided over the years... One Love.”

However, earlier this month, Rodriguez downplayed her potential departure from the franchise, explaining that her Instagram post was less a threat than an encouragement for the writers to explore the female characters more.

“We always see the guys talking, we know what they’re thinking and we know their relationships, but I can count with one hand in eight movies how many times the women talk to each other,” Rodriguez told The Hollywood Reporter. “So it’s, ‘Who are they, what are they about, and do you care?’ I just brought up a question, and if that doesn’t get answered and as I start on this path [of more dramatic roles], I just wonder if our paths meet at all.”

“My path is about female empowerment,” the 39-year-old actress said in a separate interview with TMZ. “And if I’m feeling a little stagnant in that area in what I’m doing for a living, then I’m gonna have to move on. Evolve or die, baby.”

“Fast and Furious” 9 and 10 have already been confirmed. The ninth installment is scheduled for release on April 19, 2019, while tenth film is set to open in theaters on April 2, 2021.
