Julianne Hough has discussed equal treatment and white privilege after her split from Brooks Laich.

Hough and Laich just announced their split after two years of marriage. On Saturday (May 30), in her online exercise class, Hough talked about change and equal treatment amid the outrage over George Floyd’s death and the protests that sparked from it. She also admitted that she is “privileged” simply because she’s white.

“We all deserve to be treated equally. We’re going to sit down and have a conversation about how not only to be not racist, but be against racism, as a white woman of much privilege I’m excited to talk about that,” the “Dancing With the Stars” judge said.

“We can still have joy, celebration and liberation and celebrate the lives that have already been lost,” she continued.

Hough encouraged others, not to think about what they haven’t done in the past, but to start today. She also advised everyone to step into the person they know and reminded them to rise together because that’s how change happens.

“All this healing the last few months can help us move onto others and healing for others. Some of the words I chose today were honor, joy, celebration, peace and harmony. We’re all in this together,” she added.

She also likened everything in life to waves because it is fluid and constantly changing. At the same time, Hough reminded everyone that “if we don’t like our history, we can start rewriting it right now — today is a new day!”

The online exercise class aimed to raise money for the Equal Justice Initiative in the wake of the deaths of Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor.

Just like Hough, Billie Eilish also talked about “white privilege.” In a post on Instagram, the singer admitted that she was fed up with the people who continues to push the “all lives matter” narrative as an argument against the Black Lives Matter movement.

According to Eilish, the #BlackLivesMatter statement doesn’t devalue the lives of white people or that of other races. It only promotes the cause of the black community because theirs is what needs more attention at the moment. She also encouraged her fellow white people to stop making everything about them.

“You are privileged whether you like it or not. Society gives you privilege just for being white. You can be poor, you can be struggling..and still your skin color is giving you more privilege than you even realized,” Eilish wrote.

In related news, Chrissy Teigen announced that she would donate $200,000 to bail out Floyd’s protesters. Meanwhile, Beyoncé encouraged her fans to support the different petitions seeking for justice for Floyd.
