• Justin Bieber has opened up about his problems with addiction after getting famous at such a young age
  • He started taking marijuana at the age of 13
  • He prayed to God to take him out of this situation

Justin Bieber was one of the first few people who shot to fame as a child when he was discovered on the video-sharing platform YouTube. But sometimes, the showbiz world can be a pretty dark place for a newcomer and it can make someone do things that a person would not do otherwise.

For the first time in his professional career, Bieber has opened up about the time when he skyrocketed to fame at the age of 13 and why he started using drugs as a coping mechanism.

Speaking about his addiction in the fifth episode of his YouTube documentary “Justin Bieber: Seasons,” the 25-year-old musician revealed that he first tried marijuana at the age of 13 and became really “dependent” on stuff like weed at such a young age. But he did not stop there and started consuming more harmful drugs at the time.

The “Love Yourself” hitmaker further stated that he began drinking “lean” - a narcotic substance that is made with cough syrup – as well as some other drugs. He believes that he relied on drugs as an “escape” from his fame.

“It was just an escape for me. I was young. My experience was in front of cameras and I had a different level of exposure,” Bieber said.

After going through a lot and feeling that he has started to value wrong things, the “Sorry” singer decided to change himself and get sober because his addiction was getting really “serious” and people were not aware of how bad it was affecting him.

He started praying and hoped that God will do everything to take him out of this situation because he was “dying” inside.

“I was, like, dying. People do not know how serious it got. I basically said to myself, ‘God, if you are real, you get me through this season of stopping these pills and stuff, and if you do, I will do the rest of the work,” Bieber said.

The acclaimed singer is now gearing up for the release of his fifth studio album. The name and the release date of the album are yet to be announced.

Speaking about the album in a YouTube video, the “Let Me Love You” hitmaker noted that the upcoming album will be much “different” than all the previous ones he has made and the music that he managed to produce during the album is something that he “loves” the most out of anything that he has ever done.

This will be Bieber’s first studio album in five years. His first album, “My World 2.0,” came in 2010 and became a massive hit. The other three albums he produced are “Under The Mistletoe” (2011), “Believe” (2012) and “Purpose” (2015).
