  • Another truck lunges under the 12-foot Independence Avenue Bridge in Kansas City, early Tuesday
  • No injured person or casualty was reported thus far
  • Netizens reacted and called for a solution to what was rather an ongoing problem

For Kansas City folks, truck accidents are not rare occurrences. The city's infamous Independence Avenue Bridge has been stopping large trucks in its path for years. However, the latest truck accident at the railroad bridge has caused a commotion among the netizens.

The Kansas City Police notified the public, via their official Twitter account, that another truck lunged under the Independence Avenue Bridge early Tuesday. The said post had a '2-0 in 2021' remark and indicated that the truck tried to sneak to the backside of the bridge.

The tweet was met by different reactions from netizens. One user replied on the thread asking for a resolution on what appeared to be an ongoing problem.

“I get that you are trying to spread awareness about this problem,” the tweet said. “But shouldn’t we be trying to actually solve the problem instead of laughing about it?”

“I will never understand how a poorly built piece of infrastructure, paid for by the public, colliding with business property, causing massive insurance claims will be considered humorous,” another netizen said. Following the tweet was a call out to fix the bridge and quit shaming.

“Have more warning signs been put up?” another netizen asked.

Meanwhile, a netizen opined that truck drivers should be knowledgeable, accountable and responsible in circumstances such as this.

“Truck drivers are trained not to drive under short bridges, [you’re] supposed to know your trucks’ height [versus] a bridge,” the netizen wrote.

The posted photo revealed a truck, with logos of Snapple, 7UP, RC, Sunkist and A & W, lunged underneath a 12-foot high Independence Avenue Bridge.

It’s not yet clear whether or not there were people injured and who owns the truck. For the time being, the Kansas City Police has not released detailed information about the accident.

A few weeks ago, KCTV reported an accident on Independence Avenue Bridge —the first accident for 2021 on the same bridge. Nobody was injured when the accident happened, the Independence Avenue Bridge issue has been going on for a long time now.

As it's expensive to raise the bridge or lower the road, the Kansas City Public Works Department and Kansas City Terminal Railway have placed "Truck Stop" signs and repairs instead since it’s costly to raise the bridge or lower the road.
