Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have very different personalities. And even though they both have wonderful relationships with Queen Elizabeth, one of them is reportedly closer to Her Majesty than the other.

While speaking with Express, body language expert Judi James said that the monarch seems to favor the Duchess of Cambridge over the Duchess of Sussex due to a number of reasons.

“Kate’s cheerful, fuss-free behavior, plus her growing signs of confidence and dependability as someone to share hosting duties, the Queen now looks relaxed and very upbeat in her company. Especially at a time in her life when she must be missing Prince Philip’s support and presumably suffering sleepless nights over the ongoing saga of her second son,” she said.

James added that even though Queen and Middleton appear to be polar opposites, the nature of their relationship has grown since the first time that Prince William’s wife joined the royal family in 2011.

Markle, on the other hand, is not as close to the Queen because she just joined the royal family last year. James said that the two female royals still need to spend more time with each other.

But the body language expert also noted the fact that Markle and the Queen share more similarities with each other. It seems that they also have the same sense of humor and a shared sense of fun.

“However, these two strong, independent women might need more time spent together to get to know one another to the point where they can both relax into that kind of deeper relationship,” she said.

Meanwhile, royal expert Ingrid Seward previously told The Sun that the Queen admires Middleton tremendously. However, she doesn’t have an intimate relationship with her. The two royals are also quite formal towards each other.

The Queen and Markle, on the other hand, have more things in common starting off with their love for dogs. Prince Harry’s wife also knows how to make her grandmother-in-law laugh.
