Kate Middleton’s next state banquet gown will be different in the best way.

According to Fiona Ward, a journalist for Hello!, the Duchess of Cambridge’s outfits at state banquets will be different going forward after Queen Elizabeth II appointed her to be the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO). Middleton is expected to wear new regalia at formal royal occasions such as state dinners and banquets that includes a sash, badge and star of the order.

The other members of the royal family who wear the special insignia include Princess Anne, Camilla Parker Bowles and Sophie, Countess of Wessex. Previously, the royal mom of three was seen wearing a yellow badge that indicated the Royal Family Order, another honor given to female members of the British royal family in a place of the commemorative medals. Following her recent title, Middleton is expected to wear a blue sash and star.

Many are wondering if Middleton still holds her HRH title after the Queen’s highest rank appointment. Yes, Middleton still holds her previous titles including the HRH status. She will have an even greater title when Prince William takes over the throne as she will become the new queen consort.

Prior to becoming the queen consort, Middleton will inherit Princess Diana’s title first. The Duchess of Cambridge will be the new Princess of Wales when Prince Charles becomes the new king and Prince William becomes the apparent heir.

However, the title will not be automatically given to Middleton. Prince Charles still has to grant the title to Prince William as a personal honor. When Prince William officially becomes the new Prince of Wales only then will Middleton become the new Princess of Wales.

Recently, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge packed on a rare PDA when they arrived in Cutty Sark, east London to launch a new sailing competition to raise money for their charities. Upon arrival, Prince William was photographed placing a hand at Middleton’s back.

The couple expressed their delight for the arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby boy. The Duke of Cambridge also joked as he welcomed his younger brother to the “sleep deprivation society” that most, if not all, new parents experience after welcoming their bundle of joy.
