Talk show host Wendy Williams on Monday spoke on her program about her divorce from Kevin Hunter, her husband of 22 years. One day later, Hunter released a statement about their relationship.

"[Twenty-eight] years ago I met an amazing woman: Wendy Williams. At the time, I didn't realize that she would not only become my wife, but would also change the face of entertainment and the world," Hunter said in the statement.

"I have dedicated most of our lives to the business empire that is Wendy Williams Hunter, a person that I truly love and respect unconditionally. I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans."

While he did not state exactly what he was referring to in terms of "recent actions," there have been rumors that he has been carrying on an affair for years with massage therapist Sharina Hudson, who gave birth last month.

"I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs," the statement read.

"No matter what the outcome is or what the future holds, we are still The Hunter Family and I will continue to work with and fully support my wife in this business and through any and all obstacles she may face living her new life of sobriety, while I also work on mine. I ask that you please give me and my family privacy as we heal. Thank you."

Hunter, who served as Williams' manager, remains an executive producer on "The Wendy Williams Show." The couple also has a 19-year-old son, Kevin Jr.

Williams has generated headlines in recent weeks after announcing in March that the is living in a sober house for alcohol and prescription drugs addiction.

A representative for Williams on Thursday confirmed she had filed for divorce from Hunter.
