  • Kim Kardashian is divorcing Kanye West after six years of marriage, reports say
  • Some Twitter users speculated that this may be a publicity stunt
  • Others offered words of sympathy and support to Kardashian and West

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are getting a divorce, according to reports, but some social media users appeared skeptical of them actually ending their marriage.

Page Six reported, citing unnamed sources, that Kardashian and West's marriage is over and that “divorce is imminent” for the couple. The reality star has stopped wearing her wedding ring and hired lawyer Laura Wasser to handle the divorce proceedings, the report said. However, according to E! News, while Kardashian believes she and West are done, she has yet to officially file for divorce.

Twitter users had mixed opinions about the reports of their rumored impending divorce, with some claiming this was simply a publicity stunt.

"I'll believe it when the papers are filed AND finalized! This rumor's made the rounds to many times before to be believed until this happens and you see both of them posting the move out process. Their 15 minutes is a decade past due!" one commented.

"This Kim/Kanye divorce thing seems a bit suspect. No one's filed for divorce, but it's coming? Seems like a publicity stunt," another wrote.

"A good number of Kanye's antics is planned pretty intensely," a third user claimed. "Trump, Kardashians, Lohans, Hiltons, etc half of the controversy we see is probably public relations stunts to generate engagement."

Others appeared to have expected this outcome following West's meltdown last year. While campaigning for president in July, the Yeezy founder had gone public with their personal family matters, including him and Kardashian considering abortion after she became pregnant with their first child. He then made several claims on Twitter about his wife and her famous family, such as Kardashian allegedly attempting to "lock me up like on the movie 'Get Out.'"

Shortly after, Kardashian spoke out about West's bipolar disorder and how "incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand." She also asked the public to give them "compassion and empathy."

Responding to Kardashian and West's split rumors, one Twitter user wrote, "I’ve been married to a bi-polar person and when they work to keep their meds in check, this doesn’t happen. Kanye hasn’t bothered to admit he has a problem that requires him to level out. He’s just arrogant and gets none of my sympathy."

"The difference is Kanye is not willing to get better. Kimberly has to worry about her children. I struggle with BPD type II so I know," another added.

"Mental illness isn’t a choice but it is your responsibility to deal with. She tried getting him help, and he refused. She has all the right to move on, even if he is mentally ill. (I hate the kardashians)," a third user commented.

Some Twitter users offered words of sympathy and support to the two, with one writing, "Divorces are extremely difficult. I’m hoping they end up well after separating and being divorced just for their own sake."
