Kodai Senga did not hide his excitement after he was officially signed by the New York Mets.

The Japanese baseball player signed a five-year deal with the Mets last Saturday, Decmeber 17 worth $75 million.

In addition, the 29-year-old has earned $5 million as a signing bonus and has the option to opt-out of his contract after the 2025 season.

During his introductory press conference, Senga was pretty elated about being in the "Big Apple" and shared how he felt that the MLB team really wanted him there.

"I'm very honored and excited to have the fans to choose number 34 for me and I hope to live up to the highest of their expectations," Senga said through the help of a translator. "He really felt that the Mets really showed they wanted him here. And also the opportunity to pitch with such great veteran pitchers, as well."

Senga will be thus pitching beside the likes of Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander.

The Japanese ace is likewise aware that he will be in the company of two legendary pitchers that are pretty much known in his home country.

"He's been playing in Japan for a long time, wanting to play here, that was his big goal. So he just wants fans to understand and know that he's very blessed to play here and play in the States. Of course, he still does want to put up good numbers, as well," the five-time Japan Series champion stated.

Known for his special pitch called the "Ghost Fork," he has been in communication with several MLB players such as Edwin Diaz and Yu Darvish.

"For the last few years he's been in contact with Yu Darvish, and he's given him a lot of good advice," Senga shared. "Every time he did speak to Darvish and other pitchers as well, it gave him more excitement to come over and pitch in the States."
