"Law & Order" actress Mary Mara reportedly drowned in New York's St. Lawrence River.

The New York state police said they received a call Sunday at 8.10 a.m., where they learned about a possible drowning incident. After arriving at the scene, the police found a female deceased, who was identified as Mara later.

The 61-year-old actress drowned while swimming, preliminary investigation suggested. There were no signs of foul play, so far. However, the investigation was still going on.

The actress' body has been sent to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office, where the official cause of death will be determined after autopsy.

Mara’s manager, Craig Dorfman, also confirmed the death and called her "funny and a true individual."

"Mary was one of the finest actresses I ever met," Dorfman told Variety on Monday. "I still remember seeing her onstage in 1992 in ‘Mad Forest’ off Broadway. She was electric, funny and a true individual. Everyone loved her. She will be missed."

Following the actress' death, celebrities took to Twitter to share their reactions.

Actor Jon Lindstrom shared a photo of him and the late actress and wrote, "Crushed to learn of Mary Mara’s untimely passing."

"We performed together back in 2008 in Malcolm Danare’s “In Heat” at the Lost Playhouse in LA. She was plowing through the aftereffects of Chemo," he added. "Brave, brilliant, Uber-talented. Earth will be much less-colorful without her. R.I.P."

Actress Annette O'Toole tweeted, "Mary Mara was funny, kind, brilliantly talented. I am terribly sorry she has left us."

"In the Mouth of Madness" star Julie Carmen also tweeted, "I will never forget Mary Mara in SWEAT at @CTGLA and am devastated to read that she drowned in a river due to asthma. What a rare talent and a huge loss."

On the work front, she began her career with 1989's movie "Blue Steel" and in the same year she went on to work in movies like "The Preppie Murder" and "The Hard Way."

Mara was last seen in the movie, "Break Even" where she appeared as Molly. She also worked on projects like "Doubt," "Law & Order," "The Sphere and the Labyrinth," "Secrets and Lies" and "Paradise, FL."
