"Law & Order: SVU" Season 22 Episode 3 features an interesting storyline inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic. But is the new episode broadcasting this Thursday?

This article contains spoilers from "Law & Order: SVU" Season 22.

Fans of the American crime-drama television show are informed that there is no new episode airing this week. Like many other NBC shows such as "This Is Us" and "One Chicago," the new season of the series remains on hiatus for Thanksgiving. The good news is that it will return next week with an uninterrupted run of its remaining new episodes.

The hiatus comes not too long after its Season 22's premiere last Nov. 12, wherein the show tackled an important theme revolving around racism and the need for an improved criminal justice system. Meanwhile, last week's episode titled "Ballad of Dwight and Irene" featured a domestic violence and child abuse case.

Next week, when Mariska Hargitay returns as Captain Olivia Benson for the case-of-the-week, viewers will witness a story set in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The upcoming segment is titled "Remember Me in Quarantine" and it follows the case of a college student who mysteriously disappeared from her dorm room at the time of lockdown.

Gory details unravel when the Special Victims Unit begin their investigation by questioning a group of college roommates. A recently released promo gives out more spoilers suggesting that the missing Italian student was brutally murdered. She was apparently put in a freezer while still alive.

Two suspects are later arrested for the murder, but there is still a lot to uncover in this baffling case. In the true "Law & Order: SVU" style, expect the unexpected and hard-to-believe twists.

"The SVU questions a group of college roommates when one of them goes missing during Covid lockdown," teases the official synopsis for Episode 3.

Tamara Tunie and Jordan Lane Price will be joining Hargitay, Kelli Giddish (Amanda Rollins), Ice-T (Fin), Peter Scanavino (Sonny) and Jamie Gray Hyder (Kat) in guest star roles.

"Law & Order: SVU" Season 22 Episode 3 airs Thursday, Dec. 3 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
