It looks like Roger (Damon Wayans) and Trish (Keesha Sharp) won’t see eye to eye on a case in Season 1, episode 12 of “Lethal Weapon.”

The synopsis for the episode, titled “Brotherly Love,” reveals that Roger and his partner Martin (Clayne Crawford) become embroiled in a notorious car theft ring when a car containing massive amounts of cocaine is stolen from an impound lot. Roger and Martin arrest someone for the crime, but they are shocked to find out that the lead defense attorney on the case is none other than Trish.

“Brotherly Love” is probably the episode executive producer Matt Miller was talking about during his interview with Screener earlier this month. When asked what fans can expect from Trish when the FOX series returns from its midseason hiatus, Miller revealed: “In the new year, Murtaugh and Riggs [will be put] in direct conflict with the attorney version of Trish. This happens when they arrest a former client of Trish’s. It’s a really fun episode that puts the dynamic together of Trish vs. the guys.”

This dispute between husband and wife was also teased by Sharp in a previous episode of “Lethal Access” — “Lethal Weapon’s” behind-the-scenes web show hosted by series actor Johnathan Fernandez.

When asked how Trish’s career as a district attorney is going to affect the future of the show, the actress said: “I would think that there’s gonna be some case where he [Roger] thinks someone is guilty and she thinks [the suspect] is innocent, and there might be some [strife].”

Episode 12 is obviously another opportunity for the buddy cop series to further develop the character of Trish, which was only an ancillary role to fill out Roger’s home life in the film franchise.

“She herself as a character is a very strong person and a very strong woman,” Miller said of Trish. “It was important to me to flesh her out — since we’re doing a series, as opposed to a couple of movies where you’re just telling one A-story. We need something where all of our characters are well-rounded and developed, as she’s sort of the glue that keeps it all together between the two guys.”

“Lethal Weapon” Season 1, episode 12 airs on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017 at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
