  • Several Twitter users said they won't be watching "Fantastic Beasts" without Depp

Johnny Depp's fans and supporters are not happy with Mads Mikkelsen's decision after he agreed to replace Depp in "Fantastic Beasts 3."

Mikkelsen recently said the news of him replacing Depp in "Fantastic Beasts" were just rumors and he was also waiting for Warner Bros. to make a call. But now it has been confirmed that "The Hunt" actor will be playing the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in the succeeding "Fantastic Beasts" movies.

However, the netizens were not happy because they felt that agreeing to replace Depp was a way of him not supporting his fellow actor, who was a domestic violence victim, too. Many slammed Mikkelsen for accepting Depp’s role because they felt that by doing so he was supporting those who took advantage of Depp.

"Congrats to Mads Mikkelsen for taking away a DV victim's role that he lost due to false allergations [sic]. Hope you can sleep at night knowning [sic] you're part of the reason why Johnny Depp won't be able to get his role back when it comes out he's innocent. Also no one likes a liar," one tweeted.

"i sincerely hope one day a woman as diabolical as Amber Turd will cross paths with Mads Mikkelsen and he'll learn what is like to be a victim of DV and MAYBE then he'll remember how he helped punish Johnny Depp. #BoycottWarnerBros #JusticeForJohnnyDepp," another wrote.

"Oh! So Mads not only received that phone call but also agreed to the role. Not him living under rocks to not know that he's replacing a victim of DV who was wrongfully fired from the film and that is THE JOHNNY DEPP. #BoycottWarnerBrothers #JohnnyDeppIsMyGrindelwald," a different user wrote.

Meanwhile, some said they didn’t want to disrespect Mikkelsen. Unfortunately, they won’t be supporting the franchise anymore after Depp decided to resign at the behest of the studio. Also, they didn't think anyone would be good enough to replace Depp.

"No disrespect to mads but #johnnydepp was unjustly let go>> when he was clearly a DV victim>> and when JD plays a character he owns that character as he did with #captainjack, he throws his own genius in them,& as with #grindelwald already ....cant replace #johnnydepp," one commented in a report about Mikkelsen replacing Depp in "Fantastic Beasts 3."

"No disrespect to Mads or anything, but I'm not watching 'Fantastic Beasts' without Johnny Depp. Warner fired a survivor of DV and I can't turn a blind eye to that just because I like a franchise or the new actor," one added.

"I’m from the Southern Hemisphere & no offence to mr Mads but I’d never heard of him befor this. The whole world knows Johnny Depp though. Just saying. I wish Mr Mads the best but I can’t watch now. I’m a DV survivor too, it’s been a big WB slap in the face. #JusticeForJohhnyDepp," another user wrote.

"Fantastic Beast 3" is slated for release on Nov. 12, 2021.
