Spring, Texas -- A 41-year-old man shot his wife and mother-in-law in Texas before kidnapping his 3-month-old son. Cops tracked down the suspect, who then shot himself and died of his self-inflicted injury.

The violent series of events began Wednesday at a residence on Aldine Westfield Road in Spring. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded at around 7:30 p.m. to a call about a shooting.

Officers arrived at the scene to find two women, Tangela Igbokwe and her mother, Linda Larkins, with gunshot wounds, the New York Post reported. The suspect was identified as Tangela’s husband, Obinna Igbokwe, who shot the two women in the head over a dispute about child custody.

Obinna took off with his baby boy, Mansa Igbokwe, after shooting the women. Larkins was pronounced dead at the scene while Tangela was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Obinna’s 14-year-old son was in the house when his father shot the women. The teenager ran from the house to get help, according to ABC13.

Mansa’s abduction triggered an Amber Alert, and officials said the baby was in danger of injuries or death. The Amber Alert was later discontinued when the Corsicana Police Department said the baby was with them at around 12:00 a.m. Thursday.

“According to the Corsicana Police Department, a male dropped off the child in a car seat at a local hotel and said he would be right back, but never returned,” Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook. “Since the male did not return the Corsicana Police Department was contacted and learned the male left in a white passenger car, which they believed to be Igbokwe.”

Ennis Police Department Officers later located the white Honda Accord that Obinna was driving at around 1:05 a.m Thursday. They tried to pull him over, but Obinna sped away and sent the officers on a chase.

“After a short pursuit, the Honda stopped in a parking lot where officers observed and heard a single gunshot come from the interior of the Honda,” the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said.

Obinna had shot himself and died at Dallas Hospital at around 5:20 a.m.

The baby was unharmed and safely placed in the care of his family members. “Our hearts are with the family affected by this tragic and horrific crime and we are working with the victims to ensure they receive support and assistance,” added the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
