A man was arrested for stabbing his ex-wife with a screwdriver. The incident took place in Besut district of Malaysia on Wednesday.

Police said the 31-year-old unidentified suspect approached the 28-year-old woman at her workplace Wednesday evening and asked her to get back to him. The two got into an argument during which he stabbed her with the screwdriver.

"Angry when the victim refused to consider a reconciliation, the suspect stabbed her with a screwdriver on the face and hand,” police said.

The unidentified victim was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

“The victim suffered injuries below the right eye, on the right and left hand and the left side of the forehead," police added. The condition of the victim was not known.

Meanwhile, the suspect, who fled from the scene after attacking his ex-wife, was arrested from a nearby street the same day. Police said they were investigating the case and will interrogate the suspect.

The couple got married in 2014 and got divorced in 2017. They have a four-year-old daughter.

The incident comes days after an Indian man killed his daughter after his estranged wife refused to reconcile with him. Police said the woman left her husband because of his drinking habits. The man, who was angry with his wife for leaving him, called her the day before the murder and threatened to kill their nine-year-old daughter if she did not get come back. When the wife paid no heed, the man killed their daughter.
