Married at First Sight Vanessa

Weddings are nerve-wracking for anyone, but it’s a little different when the bride and groom have never met. The “Married At First Sight” Season 3 premiere will pair off six strangers with their scientifically perfect matches. However, you don’t have to wait until the premiere of the FYI reality show to hear their thoughts on walking down the aisle. David Norton and Vanessa Nelson, two participants, told International Business Times exactly what was going through their minds on the big day.

“I was definitely nervous, especially when I put on my wedding gown,” Vanessa, 26, revealed to IBT. “That was kind of like the moment where I was like, ‘Oh, I was changing my whole life, and I don’t even know who I’m changing it with.’ That was a nervous day full of a lot of different emotions, but I got through it.”

David, 29, wasn’t quite so nervous. Right before his bride walked down the aisle, he was thinking about his failed relationships and how they led him to his new wife. “I remember it very succinctly, seeing the bottom corner of her dress right before she walked down,” the account executive recalled. “I just remember thinking just like a wave of emotions. Like every relationship that failed, like the girl that you were with in college, the girl that you almost got engaged with, your last relationship, everything that failed has led you to this moment. And maybe all that all that failed to drive you to the point where you’re willing to marry a complete stranger.”

It wasn’t just an unusual wedding. After being married to a stranger, they were followed by cameras that documented the first month of their marriage. Like fans, David and Vanessa are both excited to actually see the show. For David, he is excited to see his wife’s thoughts during their first month of marriage. Like most reality shows, “Married at First Sight” shows the cast during personal interviews talking about their feelings and opinions, some of which they don’t express during actual scenes on the series.

“I think what’s fascinating is that I know what my inner thoughts were during the whole process,” David said. “As open as communicating as you are, ‘What was she really thinking? What was her exact thoughts?’ And getting inside what other people are saying … it’s going to be really fascinating to see the other side of how she experienced everything as it happened that first month. Especially that first month, you just met the person, so maybe you hold back a little bit more.”

Vanessa, a corporate events manager, just hopes that other people will learn from her journey. “I’m a little nervous, but definitely excited,” she said. “It’s kind of weird to see yourself and see something that’s usually so personal for the world to see. But more than anything, I’m just hoping that my experience with this process helps someone else with their relationship and being a better partner because I know I learned so much throughout this process. So I really think that if you follow this season, someone will learn something.”

This year, fans will see even more “Married at First Sight.” The Season 3 episodes have been expanded to an hour and 15 minutes. Watch the trailer below:
