Neither Camila Alves nor Matthew McConaughey can recall the exact date when they got married. In fact, Alves is surprised when she learned that her 10th wedding anniversary is coming up in June.

"Matt and I are not good with dates with our marriage. We go back and forth all the time," the 40-year-old model admitted in an exclusive interview with ET Online.

Apparently, this is not the first time the couple has had a hard time figuring out the exact date of their wedding. One such conversation took place when the couple — who got married in 2012 — had a bunch of friends over at their home.

"I had my tequila already and I was just feeling very feisty and I was going back to Matt like, 'No, you got the date wrong.' And he goes, 'No, you got the date wrong. We're going back and forth and my friend wanted a beer, so I'm looking for a beer and I had one of the koozies. I opened the drawer to grab a koozie and right there – I started cracking up so bad – it was a koozie from our wedding, and both Matthew and I were wrong," Alves recalled.

Now that they have been reminded that their anniversary is on June 9, Alves said she will note it down. "OK, I need to write it down. Somebody write it down. I need a reminder for this," she told ET Online.

The couple, who has three kids — Levi, 13, Vida, 12, and Livingston, 9, didn't really have a smooth start when they first met in a club 16 years ago.

"I had just six months, maybe seven months before, [I had broken up] with somebody in the industry, an actor actually. I was just terrified of anybody in the industry. So when he actually invited me to have margaritas, I was like, 'No thank you. Nope, nope, I'm good. I'm going to sit right here.' I'm turning my back to the table, but he got up, came over, and talked," Alves recalled.

While appearing on the "Anna Faris is Unqualified" podcast last year, McConaughey spoke about why mutual support is a critical cornerstone of a strong relationship.

"One of the great things about marriage, and it doesn't always happen this way, but when you fall down, and you're just dating, or someone does something you don't like, you immediately go 'This is a sign of things to come, I need to get out.' You get married, you fall down, you don't pull the parachute immediately. You go 'Hey, we're in this to try and make this work," he said at the time.

The "Mud" actor advised people not to go "tit for tat" through the highs and lows of life with their partners.

"If you know the person really well, you may want them to change a little bit. No one is perfect. But if you can root for them to be more themselves… that's sort of a part of unconditional love, I think," the actor added.
