KEY POINTS

  • Meghan Markle paused her podcast for the official mourning period for Queen Elizabeth
  • She is going over the upcoming episodes to make sure they're not offensive to the monarchy
  • Meghan doesn't want to create any more trouble with the royal family after the Queen's passing

Meghan Markle is reviewing the upcoming episodes of her podcast "Archetypes," in the wake of Queen Elizabeth's death. This is to prevent her content from being interpreted as offensive by any of her grieving relatives in the U.K., reports said.

Royal commentator Neil Sean said "there's a lot of work going on behind the scenes" on Meghan's remaining podcasts as the British community mourns the death of their queen. "We know there's been four in the can already that are ready to go," he said.

"But according to a very good source, they're going through them all with a very fine-tooth comb to make sure there's nothing derogatory, hurtful, or indeed that could cause yet another explosive time bomb," Sean added.

Meghan launched her Spotify podcast on Aug. 23 and has released three episodes every week since. On Monday, she observed the official mourning period for Queen Elizabeth when she withheld the new episodes of her podcast.

"New episodes of Archetypes will be paused during the official mourning period for Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II," she said in a statement.

Sean noted there are two ways to interpret Meghan's gesture, and one of those is that she wants to reconcile with Prince Harry's relatives in the U.K.

"You could look at this two ways really. Is Meghan changing her tune to now try and re-fit back into the family that she left behind? Or indeed is she having second thoughts because she doesn't want to create any more trouble?" Sean said.

The former actress's tension with her in-laws is no secret. Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior members of the royal family in 2020 amid intense media scrutiny, and left the U.K. for good.

A year after stepping down, the couple opened up in an exclusive interview with Oprah, talking about how joining the royal family had taken a toll on Meghan's mental health.

The weekend after the Queen's death, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex set their personal issues aside when they appeared alongside Prince William and Kate for a joint walkabout to meet crowds of mourners paying their last respects at Windsor. The last time the four had been seen together was when they attended the Commonwealth Day celebrations in March 2020.
