Meghan Markle’s dad, Thomas Markle Sr., is expected to celebrate another lonely Father’s Day on Sunday, June 16.

The former lighting director still has not spoken to his daughter, and there have also been no signs that their rift would end anytime soon. The Duchess of Sussex has not spoken to her dad in months ever since she got engaged to Prince Harry.

Royal experts said that Thomas has been very hopeful that the birth of his grandson would encourage the “Suits” alum to end the rift between them and their family. However, nothing has changed in their relationship.

Other sources also said that Thomas has opted to stay quiet, and he has also refused to give interviews to the press to prove to Markle that she could trust him. However, his efforts still have not earned him a spot in his daughter and grandson’s life.

Last year, one of Thomas’s friends said that the 74-year-old is looking forward to spending holidays with his daughter and their other relatives.

“Thomas thinks he will enjoy a walk on the beach and maybe have a couple of beers at his local bar. Of course, he’d love to spend Christmas with family, especially his daughter… But he understands that it hasn’t worked out that way,” the source said.

The source went on to say that Markle hasn’t communicated with Thomas and most of his relatives are also at war with the Duchess of Sussex and with each other.

“He thinks it’s sad but he’s not going to be crying in his beer. He says he’s used to being alone and he’s just happy that his daughter is living an incredible new life,” the source added.

Meanwhile, Markle has maintained a close relationship with her mom, Doria Ragland. The yoga instructor has not said anything negative about her daughter and the royal family ever since Markle started dating Prince Harry.

Ragland was just in London to meet her grandson, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, after he was born on May 6.
