Melania Trump has become an easy target of malicious accusations and controversies since she moved into the White House in 2017. Often, the wife of U.S. President Donald Trump hits headlines due to her fashion choices and advocacies. But, how is the current FLOTUS different from the other first ladies?

CNN reporter Kate Bennett, recently, compared Melania with the former first ladies of America. In her report, the journalist said the FLOTUS “remains something of a mystery” since she assumed the role three years ago. Kate said Melania is independent and “defies” the expectations in her role most of the time.

Melania Trump, allegedly, posts her thoughts online sans the approval of her husband. There were even times that she shares “indirect oppositions” to President Trump’s statements. The reporter even cited an interview in October 2016, where the FLOTUS said that she and her better half are “two independent people thinking on their own and have a very open conversation.”

To recall, on Oct. 6, 2018, Melania made a powerful statement when she revealed that she does not always agree with what President Donald Trump tweets online. The former model said she gives her husband her “honest opinions and advice.” Melania, at the time, made it clear that it is important for her to express what she feels.

Kate, on the other hand, described former FLOTUS Barbara Bush as “opinionated” while Hillary Clinton is said to be a “meddler in West Wing policy.” Michelle Obama, for her part, was labeled as an “open and friendly” First Lady even if she is, allegedly, not happy with the “restrictions with the White House life.”

For starters, Kate Bennett is the author of the upcoming “Free, Melania: The Unauthorized Biography” that is set to hit the shelves this week. The book is said to cover on Melania Trump’s life in the White House, including her marriage and influence on President Donald Trump.

“I think the other surprising part about Melania Trump in covering her for three years and writing this book is that she really is quite happy where she is. She has learned to make the most of it,” Kate revealed in an interview with NPR’s Mary Louise Kelly. “You know, to think that she's trapped somehow and in need of a rescue makes for a good meme. But if you speak to anyone who knows her and those around her, you just quickly realize that's just not the case,” she went on.
