Melania Trump and Donald Trump’s divorce has been a topic of discussion among their supporters, critics, and even experts.

Even though the Trumps are still happily married, there have been claims that they are on the brink of a divorce. As such, Town & Country asked a slew of high-profile divorce attorneys to speculate on what the FLOTUS could get following a presidential breakup.

Jacqueline Newman, a managing partner at Berkman Bottger Newman & Rodd, said that the FLOTUS will most likely receive more than $50 million.

“In this situation, if she has $50 million, she can afford to buy something. But $50 million, while it’s definitely a lot of money, in New York City, for what she’s used to, she wouldn’t be able to replicate what she has now. He probably had a good sense of what kind of lifestyle they’d be living, so I would imagine the payout would be fairly generous,” she said.

When Trump divorced his first wife, Ivana Trump, the latter received $14 million. On top of this, she was also awarded an apartment in New York and a mansion in Connecticut. Every year, Ivana also received $650,000 in alimony and child support.

Years later, Trump’s second ex-wife, reportedly received around $2 million.

FLOTUS’ prenuptial agreement may have also been renegotiated after Trump became president. Thomas Kretchmar, an associate at Chemtob, Moss & Forman, said that it is possible for the First Lady to have drafted a postnuptial agreement with the help of her lawyers.

“Sometimes postnups are used as a stopgap to an eventual divorce. Other times they are genuinely just a revision or refinement of existing rights in light of a change in the spouses’ circumstances,” he said.

Meanwhile, “Free, Melania” author, Kate Bennett, said that it is unlikely for the Trumps to get a divorce because FLOTUS has more faith and religious devotion than most people think. After 20 years of marriage, things seem to be working well for the couple, she told the Washington Examiner.
