Numerous fans around the globe were shocked after American basketball player Kobe Bryant was confirmed dead due to a helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif. on Sunday. His daughter, Gianna, a college baseball coach and his wife and daughter were also killed. Authorities suggested that it could take several days to recover the bodies from the crash site. Avid followers of the Los Angeles Lakers player took to social media to express their reactions about the tragic accident, including First Lady of the United States Melania Trump.

“Thoughts and prayers to the family of #Kobe Bryant and those who lost loved ones in today’s tragic crash. Rest In Peace,” Melania shared on social media. Some netizens mourned with the FLOTUS by writing heartfelt words of grief in the comment section.

“Eternal Rest Grant Unto Them Oh Lord. And Let Perpetual Light Shine Upon Them. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace,” one netizen wrote. “What a terrible tragedy. To learn that his sweet daughter Gianna is also lost. My heart breaks for his family,” Ann Marie Whithed stated. “I’m going to take the time to say, the words you used are appreciated. May we all remember, that money isn’t everything nor is fame or fortune. For we are all simply a vessel traveling in the voyage of life... #RIP Kobe “Bean” Bryant,” Coach Carter said.

Critics, on the other hand, took the chance to lambast Melania Trump. “You know she didn't write this. She doesn't care about anyone or anything except her wallet,” Tyese Christina Zehnder penned in the comment section. “You really don't care, do you? Tell your husband to resign,” a fifth Twitter user responded to the FLOTUS’s tweet. “You are a real low life pitiful person,” Mary Grace Close added. “Don't pretend you care, because we know better,” another netizen stated. Melania has yet to comment on these harsh remarks.

Meanwhile, CNN reporter Kate Bennett revealed that Melania and President Donald Trump do not use the word “love” about each other. “People say to me, ‘How can she stay with him? And I want to be like, well, the time to leave was maybe when he joked about you getting run over by a truck but if your boobs were okay he would stay with you. But here we are almost 20 years later,” the journalist told The Washingtonian.

“Being First Lady sucks in so many ways that I almost appreciate the way she’s been like, I’m not going to hold his hand. We’ve watched so many political wives stand there in those awkward moments. She hasn’t commented on impeachment at all. Hillary Clinton went to Capitol Hill during the Monica Lewinsky scandal and said: I know what he did, it’s horrible, it’s terrible, but we’ve still got to support him. Melania’s like, I think I’ll talk about vaping today,” Kate went on.

In Dec. 2020, the reporter released a book titled “Free, Melania: The Unauthorized Biography.” However, the White House was quick to criticize the book and claimed that Kate Bennett relied on unreliable sources who do not know Melania Trump personally.
