Melania Trump is facing another round of backlash from her critics for not wearing a mask in public.

The First Lady of the United States has been actively promoting social distancing and wearing of masks on social media. Back in April, Melania shared a photo of her wearing a mask and encouraged everyone to always wear one amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“As the CDC continues to study the spread of the COVID-19, they recommend that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings where social distancing measures can be difficult to maintain,” the FLOTUS wrote on Instagram.

“Remember, this does not replace the importance of social distancing. It is recommended to keep us all safe.”

However, many noticed that on Monday (May 25), Melania and President Donald Trump didn’t wear masks when they attended the Memorial Day event at the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. On her recent outing with the POTUS, Melania still didn’t wear one, and this prompted some people to slam her online.

“@FLOTUS no mask after promoting masks?” one wrote.

“@FLOTUS no mask neither you or hubby couldn’t bother wearing one. He says it’s not manly guess not manly for you either. Two peas in a pod. Two idiots,” another added.

“@FLOTUS Melania I know you don’t write any of the [explicit] they teach you to read ....you told people to wear Masks... two frickin videos your office released and now you are out and about with no mask on. Not worried about you at all but innocent people around you. #BeBest,” @tamzen1994 commented.

On May 23, Melania shared a clip of her addressing the class of 2020 at the White House. However, many were surprised that they were not wearing masks including the FLOTUS.

“And they all caught Coronavirus and took it home to kill their parents and grandparents,” one commented.

Meanwhile, several also defended the FLOTUS. According to them, wearing masks is not a must.

“There's no law stating people must wear masks. If someone has a medical condition that precludes them from wearing a mask, they can go without it. Under the ADA, a reasonable accommodation must be made,” @Got2BeBetterWay wrote.

Another online user also pointed out that even mask companies don’t encourage everyone to wear one. One brand has a warning that read, “This product is not a respirator and will not provide any protection against COVID-19 or other viruses or contaminants.”

Karen Boulter added that in Australia they do not wear masks and they still have low numbers of COVID-19 cases.
