A Michigan woman pled guilty last week to charges of solicitation of murder and using a computer to commit a crime. The woman tried to hire a hitman through a bogus website to have her former husband killed.

The attempt came to light when the owners of the website called "Rent-A-Hitman" contacted Michigan State Police about someone soliciting their services. The accused, identified as Wendy Lynn Wein, 52, used a pseudonym but provided her real contact details, which helped police track her down, Complex.com reported.

The domain was created as a cybersecurity test site, police told MLive. The cops told the outlet that Wein enlisted professional help on Nov. 12, 2020, by referring to an "issue" with her ex-husband and that they were concerned that Wein was serious about it.

An undercover agent posing as a hitman from the website met Wein at a parking lot on July 17 to peg the deal. Wein allegedly offered to cover out-of-state expenses, as well as $5,000 for the hit. Once Wein handed over the payment, she was arrested and taken to Monroe County Jail on charges of solicitation of murder and using a computer to commit a crime.

Wein is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 13, 2022, WFTV reported. She could face up to 108 months in prison if convicted.

In June, a Louisiana woman was arrested after she allegedly hired four teens in a plot to kill her ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend. Myka Tyson, 20, of Covington, targeted the man after she found out that he was in a relationship with her ex-girlfriend. The teens were charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated criminal damage but were released via custodial agreement.
