  • Microsoft has launched a new audio accessory for gamers called the Xbox Wireless Headset
  • This comes after the company launched the Xbox Series X console
  • The new device will work with PCs and mobile devices as well

Microsoft is launching a new wireless headset that’s affordable and can be used with Xbox consoles as well as PCs and mobile devices.

Shortly after the new Xbox Series X console comes the new Xbox Wireless Headset. While this is not the only wireless headset Microsoft has launched in recent years, it is the first wireless Xbox headset since the Xbox 360 days, The Verge noted.

The new Xbox Wireless Headset brings improvements to what current Xbox One Stereo and Wired Chat headsets have to offer. Per Microsoft, It has some features designed to immerse users in their games, including Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos and DTS Headphone:X.

The new audio accessory also has some interesting features that will help players enjoy their games even more. These include a feature called Auto-mute which, as the name implies, will automatically turn the microphone off so that noises around the user won’t be picked up and transmitted to other players.

The headset also offers voice isolation features. This allows the device to focus on the user’s voice so that other background noise will not be picked up and heard on the receiving end. This means players won’t have to worry about their dog or the cars and motorbikes buzzing by ruining their in-game voice chat experience.

The new Xbox Wireless Headset features rotating earcup dials similar to those on the Surface Headphones. These let players fine-tune volume levels and adjust game/chat balance on the fly. The device can also be connected to the Xbox Accessories app for even more fine-tuning and a more customized audio experience.

Microsoft said users can pair the new headset directly to their consoles with Xbox Wireless radio for a complete wireless listening experience. Doing this removes the need for dongles, cables or even a base station.

While the new headset has the “Xbox” branding, it’s designed for players with or without an Xbox console. Microsoft said users can connect the Xbox Wireless Headset to PCs and devices running on Windows 10 so they can enjoy the same audio quality and wireless conveniences as when connecting it to an Xbox console.

The new Xbox Wireless Headset lasts for up to 15 hours on a single charge. It is priced at $99 and be preordered from Microsoft and other retailers. The device will start shipping on March 16.
