Mike Tindall was told off by the palace to be careful when asked about his wife’s royal family.

Mike has reportedly been told to rein in his remarks about the members of the Firm. The ex-rugby star married Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter, Zara Phillips.

Mike is outspoken and very open about his family life. However, he was warned to be more reserved when asked about his famous in-laws.

“Mike is adored by all members of the Royal Family for his down-to-earth nature and good humour,” a source told Sarah Robertson of Mirror.

“He doesn’t take himself too seriously and there’s not a snobby bone in his body. But recently it’s been felt he may inadvertently reveal something that should remain private. Although he is not royal and his mother-in-law Princess Anne refused her children titles so they would lead ‘normal’ lives, there’s no getting away from Zara’s bloodline. Like it or not, there’s a line they must toe.”

Mike raised eyebrows when he was quoted talking about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby Archie at a charity. Many weren’t expecting him to dish details about the couple’s baby especially that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were very private and protective when it comes to their son.

“There’s a feeling of not wishing to dampen his spirits as he’s the life and soul of the party,” the source added.

“It’s more about being more on his guard when asked about his in-laws.”

According to Sofie Jackson of Daily Star, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s eldest son Prince George is a huge fan of Mike’s. In fact, Prince George’s favorite uncle is Mike and not Prince Harry. The 6-year-old royal reportedly loves Mike because he “larks” and never takes himself too seriously.

Mike also revealed earlier that the new generation of young royals are springing up and are quite close in age, so they grow up as good friends. His daughter Mia is between Princess Charlotte and Prince George in terms of age. His youngest child Lena is about the same age as Prince Louis. He is hoping that the royal children will keep their close bond when they grow up.
