A man’s good deed and love for animals have paved a way to reunite a family of stray dogs. The video of his rescue mission went viral just a few hours after it was posted online.

The Dodo, a digital brand that shares animal-related videos and stories, posted a touching video of Takis Shelter. They went on a mission to rescue momma dog and her puppies and then after papa dog.

The video of Takis Shelter posted on Facebook earlier today showed how the momma dog protected her puppies by hiding them under a nearby car. A female rescuer approached the dog, tried to calm her and eventually placed a leash around her neck.

She was then safely placed inside the dog cage. The rescuers then approached the scared puppies and one-by-one, placed them inside a separate dog cage.

The rescuers took momma dog and her puppies to the shelter and fed them. The rescuer was only able to touch the momma dog after she felt safe.

They then rescued papa dog and took him to his family. Papa dog was outside guarding his family, while momma dog and their puppies were safely resting inside the dog house.

Takis Shelter is a non-profit organization based in Ierapetra, Crete. The organization was founded by Theoklitos Proestakis, who was reportedly once a disc jockey. It was said that Proestakis, also known as Takis, had to make a huge financial sacrifice to save abandoned local dogs.

Takis do not only rescue stray dogs, but he also finds a new home for them. There are several ways to get involved with the shelter’s mission —by visiting, volunteering, adopting, fostering and donating.
