A mother and her 9-month-old child in India have been miraculously rescued after falling unconscious on rail tracks.

A 37-year-old woman, identified as Yuvarani from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, was crossing the tracks at a railway station in the city of Katpady while holding the infant in her arms. Yuvarani reportedly slipped and fell on the tracks with her baby while a train was on it, quite close to them, news outlet News 18 reported.

The woman reportedly noticed the train only later and was too shocked to move when she saw it. Meanwhile, the railway officials intervened and stopped the train. Yuvarani and her child were lifted from the tracks.

The child was uninjured but Yuvarani suffered minor injuries to her head and was shocked by the accident. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, officials said.

In a video of the rescue shared by local news outlet India Today, the railway officials could be seen pulling out the child from under the train while the child appeared unharmed. The video also showed people around helping the officials to lift the unconscious woman away from the track.

Earlier this month, a train driver in India miraculously saved a man by hitting the emergency brakes seconds before running over him. The incident happened in Mumbai and the video has since gone viral after the department of railway shared it on social media.

The video showed a man wandering onto the railway tracks and lying down in a bid to end his life. The video then showed the train approaching him within seconds and coming to a stop barely a few meters away from the man. Even after the train stopped, the man remained on the tracks and was eventually moved to safety by railway workers. After the video went viral on social media, many viewers hailed the train driver as a hero and said he should be rewarded for his timely intervention.
