A woman in Pakistan reportedly ended her life after her husband pranked her saying that he had married another woman. The deceased, identified as Fauzia, and her husband, Muhammad Ramzan, had been married for over six years and have three children.

Fauzia lived in Sialkot, a city in Pakistan, while her husband lived in Dubai, Latin Times reported.

Ramzan decided to play a prank on Fauzia and called her Monday and said he had married a middle-eastern woman in Dubai and immediately hung up.

The heartbroken wife, distressed by the news attempted to call him several times but to no avail. She then sent him several alarming video messages telling him that she "didn’t want to share him with anyone," Daily Pakistan reported.

Weapons like knives and daggers were seen in the videos. In her last video message, she said, "Tell me the truth in ten minutes or else I will commit suicide."

When she did not get a response from her husband, Fauzia killed herself by hanging from a ceiling fan inside her home.

Following the incident, the woman’s parents filed a police complaint alleging that their daughter was tortured to death by her husband and her in-laws. Ramzan’s parents, on the other hand, refuted the allegations by saying it was a prank gone wrong.

Cops are reportedly investigating the matter from all possible angles and no arrests were made in the case as of Tuesday.

Earlier this year, a 17-year-old boy in the southern Indian state of Kerala accidentally killed himself while trying to stage his own suicide as a prank on his friends. The teen went to his room after dinner and when he did not come out for a considerable time, his parents went to check on him and found him hanging from the ceiling fan. His phone was found near the window and was live-streaming the tragic death. Investigation revealed that the teen was trying to prank his friends on April Fool’s Day by staging a suicide scene when he accidentally killed himself.
