Hollywood loves a sequel, and that remains true in 2019. The studios have more than 20 follow-ups set for the new year.

“Glass” (Jan. 18) M. Night Shyamalan’s “Unbreakable” and “Split” are actually part of the same trilogy which will conclude with this superhero movie. Bruce Willis’ David Dunn goes after James McAvoy’s Kevin Wendell Crumb, who has a superhuman personality.

“The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part” (Feb. 8) Set five years after the events of the first film, invaders from outer space threaten the citizens of Bricksburg.

“Happy Death Day 2U” (Feb. 14) Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe) thought she defeated the killer, but he’s back and after her friends this time.

“How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” (Feb. 22) The conclusion of the animated trilogy is sure to leave fans feeling emotional. Jay Baruchel, Cate Blanchett, Kit Harington, Gerard Butler and America Ferrera lend their voices.

“A Madea Family Funeral” (March 1) Tyler Perry returns as the beloved character, and it seems like this funeral might have more laughter than tears.

“Avengers: Endgame” (April 26) Captain America (Chris Evans) searches for a way to fix Thanos’ (Johs Brolin) decimation while Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) is stuck on a spaceship.

“John Wick: Chapter 3” (May 17) Keanu Reeves returns as the hitman. This story is connected to the last movie and will also reveal more about John’s origin story. Halle Berry, Anjelica Huston, Mark Dacascos and Asia Kate Dillon will join the cast.

“Godzilla: King of Monsters” (May 31) “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown leads this monster flick alongside Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Sally Hawkins and more.

“The Secret Life of Pets 2” (June 7) Patton Oswalt replaces Louis C.K. as the voice of Max while Kevin Hart, Eric Stonestreet, Jenny Slate, Ellie Kemper and more return as the animated animals.

“X-Men: Dark Phoenix” (June 7) Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) begins to lose control after a space mission with the X-Men takes a turn.

“Men in Black: International” (June 14) While also a reboot for the series, the movie will acknowledge the events of the first three movies, as seen in the trailer’s Easter egg. Chris Hemsworth, Liam Neeson and Tessa Thompson star.

“Shaft” (June 14) A direct sequel to the 2000 movie of the same title, the new installment (the fifth in the franchise) follows the son (Jessie T. Usher) of John Shaft II (Samuel L. Jackson). The young man has joined the FBI, but he’ll turn to his dad for help.

“Toy Story 4” (June 4) The toys are back, and they’ll meet some new friends at a carnival. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele have joined the cast which includes returning voices such as Tim Allen, Tom Hanks, Joan Cusack and more.

“47 Meters Down: Uncaged” (June 28) Corinne Foxx, Jamie Foxx’s daughter, and Sistine Rose Stallone, Sylvester Stallone’s daughter, star in this movie, which doesn’t seem to have a direct connection to the original. Instead it follows four teens who are diving in a ruined, underwater city when they discover sharks in the caves.

“Annabelle 3” (July 3) Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return in this flick about one of the creepiest dolls ever.

“Spider-Man: Far From Home” (July 5) Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is on a trip to Europe with his school when Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) sends him on a mission with a new hero, Mysterio (Jake Gylenhaal). Together, they must stop the Eternals.

“The Angry Birds Movie 2” (Aug. 22) Dove Cameron, Nicki Minaj, Sterling K. Brown, Awkwafina, Rachel Bloom and more lend their voices to this animated sequel.

“IT: Chapter 2” (Sept. 6) The Losers Club members are adults now and they want to go back to Derry to finish what they started. James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader and more star.

“Zombieland 2” (Oct. 11) Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin will reprise their roles as humans in a zombie dystopia, 10 years after the original was released.

“Terminator 6” (Nov. 1) Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton reprise their roles in this movie.

“Frozen 2” (Nov. 22) The Disney sequel will bring back Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel as Anna and Elsa, and they’re sure to leave you with more songs you’ll never get out of your head.

“Jumanji 3” (Dec. 13) Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan are set to return to the jungle in this sequel.

“Star Wars Episode IX” (Dec. 20) The conclusion of the latest “Star Wars” trilogy is set to answer plenty of questions. It will also be the final film with Carrie Fisher. Unused footage from previous films will be incorporated to finish Princess Leia’s story.
