An alien-like sea creature, believed to be found in the depths of waters, was caught by a fisherman off the southeastern coast of Australia.

Images of the "monster" baffled the internet, with many calling the creature something right out of a horror film.

Fisherman Jason Moyce, who made the catch, called it the "ugliest" sea creature he has ever seen in his life. Jason – known as “Trapman Bermagui” on social media – caught the creature off the coast of Bermagui hometown. He shared a photo of the marine creature on Facebook.

Netizens were baffled by the creature's bulbous eyes, spikes on the face, black saw-like teeth and flesh that looked as if it had been roasted on a hot pan.

Jason said he shared the photo online as both he and the captain of their charter boat were unable to identify the creature.

“I’m pretty sure this is a blobfish?” Moyce wrote June 27 on Facebook. “Caught in deep water, east off Bermagui. Probably the ugliest fish I’ve ever seen. ... Much more ugly in the flesh.”

According to the Sacramento Bee, the fish did have some resemblance to a blobfish, which have a fleshy color, “globular head and ‘floppy’ skin."

Curious social media users tried to identify the creature and also expressed their horror over the creature's appearance.

“Never put anything in (your) mouth that you can’t identify,” Sylvia Edwards wrote.

Some users said that it could wither be a monkfish, stargaze or an angler fish. One person said that it “looks like it used to be human!”

“Please put it back in its space ship,” Dijan Jurjevic posted.

“How could anyone possibly look at that and think mmmm ... yum. I might cook it up and eat it,” Charmaine Fulmer wrote on Facebook.

“I don’t care what it is. And please never post a photo of it again I’m going to vomit and have nightmares now,” Shantell Jones wrote.

Last month, a mysterious pipe-like sea creature was found lying ashore on a beach in Ireland. Beachgoers were baffled after coming across the creature. An image of the creature was posted on a Reddit page. "Can anyone help me identify this sea creature? Just found it washed up on a beach in Ireland," the post read, according to News18. The image showed the long and thin pipe-like creature, which many referred to as a "forbidden churro." A user suggested it might be a "Goa'uld," a race of sentient parasitic beings from the sci-fi series "Stargate SG-1."
