Nashville 405 clip
Deacon (Charles Esten) and Scarlett (Clare Bowen) are angry with each other in a clip from "Nashville" Season 4, episode 5. ABC

This isn’t going to be a fun family roadtrip. In “Nashville” Season 4, episode 5, Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Deacon (Charles Esten) head down to Natchez, Mississippi, after Beverly’s (Dana Wheeler-Nicholson) death. Deacon seems to finally be on speaking terms with his niece again, but their conversation isn’t exactly loving. In a sneak-peek video, it’s clear that Deacon isn’t the only one struggling to deal with the grief. Scarlett finally tells him how she really feels.

Sneak Peek No. 1

In the clip, Scarlett announces that she is drunk and she blames herself for her mother’s death. “I am the last person who walked away and left her here to live like this,” Scarlett says.

“Hey,” Deacon says. “I left her first. She was dependent on me and I got on that bus, and I left her here. So I know how you feel.”

Scarlett doesn’t believe Deacon actually can relate to her. “You weren’t there holding her hand when she slipped away. You didn’t come to help me!” Scarlett yells. “You made me feel like the most important decision of my life was a mistake and you judged me for it.” Scarlett isn’t holding anything back. She goes on to yell some more and even calls her uncle selfish.

Sneak Peek No. 2

In this clip, Maddie (Lennon Stella) gets to live out her dreams. She is on stage with Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) performing a duet of “Telescope.” Rayna’s (Connie Britton) daughter seems perfectly comfortable in front of tons of screaming fans.

It’s after she gets off stage that she should be worried. Rayna isn’t ready for Maddie to start a music career, and typically the teenager is only allowed to perform at big events with her mother. Rayna probably won’t be happy about Maddie’s rock star moment. After Juliette turned down Rayna’s help, the country veteran probably doesn’t even want her daughter around the troubled starlet.
